Well, it's that time of the week again - my collection of five things I found on Etsy. With the Christmas holiday peeking it's head around the corner, I may not get the chance to write another post, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to show you my five favourite festive things.

I can't stop looking at the cookies - it's great to see colours that are usually associated with new babies, working so well as festive tones. And the icing on them is awesome!

However, that's to say red and green should be forgotten. I absolutely LOVE the festive socks - I can just picture someone wearing them whilst they are still in their pyjama's, ripping open their presents on Christmas morning :)

Craft Fair in Tonbridge, Kent

Hello hello! Finally found a moment to jump onto my computer and let you all know how last night went! My sister Jen (of Tabby Cat Collars) and I had a stall at a school's Christmas Fair, and despite the POURING rain, had a really lovely evening! It was a little slow to begin with, and as always, the fear that I wouldn't sell a single item crept up! But then a few of my little robins flew away to new homes, and towards the end of the evening I had nearly sold out of my knitted Christmas tree decorations!

Here are some snaps of my stall :)

Unfortunately, I didn't sell many of my new Christmas cards (which was a shame as I'd spent the previous three evenings drawing, scanning, printing and packaging them!) but they shan't be wasted as I shall pop them up on my Etsy shop :)

The reason I haven't had much time to blog today is because it is my birthday! I am a quarter of a century today... booo... feel like I am really starting to get old now! Hehe! I have been thoroughly spoiled today, with a gorgeous breakfast in Carluccio's with my boyfriend, shopping and I am soon to pop over to my parents and eat some cake with them! YUM!

This is what my William gave me for my main present...

Isn't it the most gorgeous chair?! Obviously, the cushion is bright orange, and i just can't wait to crochet a lovely granny square one to go on top!

Five Things Thursday - Chunky Knits

Hello hello. I have made the jump to Etsy for my main shop - I am still in the process of updating it so bear with! I think my main problem is that I am very easily distracted - I have been looking though Etsy and fallen in love with so many gorgeous things. There really are some incredible artitsts and crafters out there, so I wanted to mke a regular feature on my blog to showcase some of my finds.

This week, I am looking at chunky knits. I really love the texture and now the weather is starting to turn colder, its the perfect time of year to add some of these items to your life. I love thinking about the frost outside, whilst I am warm and toasty inside - snuggled in a lovely chunky blanket! I hope you like this lovely selection!

Hello there everyone, and how are you all doing? I have just had a lovely time compiling this Etsy treasury - revolving around my favourite colour orange, and adding in a little petrol blue. Gloves in the Shop!

These lovely gloves are 100% merino wool, hand knitted by me! They are teal, and have a diagonal pattern running the whole way around the glove. They also have a ribbed cuff, so they fit snug around the wrist.

New Items

Hello everyone :D I have finally found enough time to add some new items to my Folksy shop. I have been busy knitting up some phone covers in new colours, and have also added some cards with brand new illustrations. I really must keep up with my drawing - it's something I love to do and really makes a change from being at a computer all day long.

I have a few more photos I need to edit, but will be adding some more bits over the next few days.

When I was at the craft fair a few weeks ago, I was asked by two people whether I had any 'New Baby' cards - and I didn't. But, now I know I have a hole in my collection and will get started on a few possible designs for this gap. I think I shall make a blog post with how I go about designing my cards - from initial sketches, to inked drawings and then into good old Photoshop for colouring them up! Would you like to see that?

Craft Fair - Tunbridge Wells, Kent

Hello everyone! I must admit... my new years resolution of blogging regularly hasn't really been working out recently, has it? However, I can use this as a slight excuse - my lovely sister Jen, of Tabby Cat Collars, and I have been organising a craft fair! It will be in Trinity, Tunbridge Wells, on 25th June. All sorts of lovely handmade items will be for sale, and it would be awesome to see some of you guys there! I know some people live faaaar away, and so have a reason for not being able to make it, but I know some of you people are from Kent, so you have noooo reason not to be there! Also, it would be great if you could pass this on to anyone you think might be interested. I know Jen has gone mad promoting it already, so hopefully it will be a really successful day! :)

Hey everyone! Firstly I must say sorry for not being around recently! But I now have 4 days off where I actually have NOTHING to do and so can really get my teeth back into blogging and...showing off my new shop!

Most of you will know I love to doodle, and I have focused my efforts into producing a range of digital stamps. I have listed a few today, but aim to create many many more. I have opted for Etsy for this shop as there are no worries about posting items to far off countries - I'll just have to email these files. My new shop is called 'orange birdy stamps' and I'd love to know what you think!

New print

Hello :) Happy Friday - however damp and dreary it is today! I have done another illustration, and couldn't wait to pop it up here to show ya'll.

I started doodling her when I was unwell one day, and have since used that little sketch to create this. I drew her by hand, then scanned and coloured her using a Wacom tablet, and then added the extra lines and highlights to bring it to life a little more. Once I get a printer sorted out, I'll pop her up for sale :)

Fab New Shop - Tabby Cat Collars

Hey eveyone! What a glorious morning so far :)

I have a new shop to show you - Tabby Cat Collars. It is owned by my older sister, Jen and she has put together some awesome designs. I don't have a cat myself, but I could be persuaded to get one just so that I can buy a collar! She sews the lovely ribbons on as glue can be toxic to out feline friends. The collars also have safety buckles on - a must for keeping your moggy safe from being caught up in trees and branches.

I hope you all like them as much as I do. I know I am biased but I honestly think they are wonderful and I am very proud of my big sister :)

Kayleigh O'Mara - Bonjour!

Oh hello again! Fancy meeting you here. The other week, I featured a moustachioed rabbit badge on my Folksy Friday selection, by Kayleigh O'Mara. Much to my delight, she offered to send me the badge as a thank you for featuring it. I was so overjoyed when I opened my letterbox and saw the same illustration on an envelope (amongst the pile of bills, booo!) and even more so when I found she had sent me her selection of french badges and a wonderful owl card with a note inside!

They make me smile so much. I have two on my coat, and one on my desk at work so I see it everyday. I couldn't let the owly note card go un-photographed either! I think it is quite similar to my style, maybe that's another reason I like it so much ;)

Hello there! Ah I am so pleased we have had a break in the weather and seen a little of the sun this week. I was starting to feel a little down from all the grey days February has so kindly given us. Dear friends! I feel like it has been forever since I had the chance to blog anything! I have been working hard on my magazine commissions and doodling some new card ideas, which I hope to show you very soon. If only we had more weather like today so I can take some snaps! Hello everyone! How is your Wednesday going? Today I am introducing another new blog feature - 'Wednesday's Web Wonders'. This will be a weekly feature where I will share with you something from the internet, be it a crafty tutorial, a new shop, a crafts-person or artist, etc.

The first Wednesday's Web Wonder is featuring the oh-so-talented JooJoo. I came across her work a few months ago, and I literally cannot stop checking her blog to see if she has updated it. Even if she hasn't, I can gaze into her watercolour illustrations for ages.

Afi has collected her utterly gorgeous illustrations into a calendar for 2011 - available from her Etsy shop. It's hard to pin down which birdy is my favourite, but I think the first one I saw was the little robin (bottom left.) I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it, and still do.

And Afi's talents don't end there! She has a second shop on Etsy, where she sells some incredible jewellery and her polymer clay creations. They literally make me squeal with delight - can you believe the detail on the snail? It's such a lovely idea to incorperate 'real' items with the clay - the shell on the snails back, the twig for the birdies to sit on, they really are delightful.

Hello everyone! How are you all on this fine Monday? I am feeling rather good - Week 2 of my diet, and I haven't spent every single moment thinking about food! Last week was pure torture, but I am feeling rather smug that I have only had my porridge, a can of soup and 2 ryvitas today, and I'm not even hungry! ...Now must stop talking about food or I'll make myself want a sneaky snack!

Just thought I'd let you know how I am getting on with my new little venture - Studio Granville has had his 6th customer and it's all positive feedback :) I can't believe I haven't utilized my day job sooner to make the banners for lovely Folksy people's shops. I even have a little mention on my last customer Ewa's blog - see it here.

Hello! Seeing as today is December 1st, no one can moan at Christmas fever really taking hold! Rubber Stamps

I have been on the hunt for a small doily rubber stamp for my Christmas tags, but can only find large ones that you'll need to get a mortgage for to buy them! So, me being me, I wondered whether I could make one! I have dabbled with lino cutting before, so had another go the other night... Unfortunately I cut my finger...and chucked the piece of lino away in anger!

But then I came across this video, and I cannot stop watching it! She makes it look so effortless! I am convinced its the rubber she is carving into that helps - mine was really hard - but still, this lady has some skill!

I wanted to share with you my new venture - Studio Granville! Some of you may be aware that I work as a graphic designer at a publishing house in Kent. So I thought I should put my skills to good use, and try my hand at designing banners and avatars for all you lovely Folksy Folk who might not know where to begin with one.

As I haven't had any customers yet, I thought I would make some sample banners to show what I can do. There are only a few here - hopefully they'll fill up with real ones soon!

Crochet Cushion!

I started crocheting a cushion cover last night, and totally forgot to compile my Folksy Friday!
Just to prove I wasn't slacking, here are the beginnings of the cushion cover :) What do you think? I am in love with these colours! I usually don't go for girly things, but I think it's the grey that stops it being tooooo feminine. I wish I could spend all day long working on it.

I shall keep you updated on my progress - although I have a rather busy weekend, so it might be a little while before I get to pick up my crochet hook again.

I was browsing though eBay and came across these salt and pepper pots. They are Hornsea (yes my obsession is still running strong!) and I believe the designer is John Clappison. I didn't actually mean to buy them... I entered a 'best offer' bid, expecting to be taken to a page saying 'are you sure' but it ended up placing my bid straight away! Folksy Friday - Cute as a Button

If you have had a look at my blog recently, you'll have seen that I listed my first handmade button this week. I've been meaning to get involved with Folksy Friday for ages, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to combine both and make a lovely list of all things button-y!

My first selection is from Lauren Ceramics. She responded to my post on Folksy for button lovers to show me their items, and I was so happy she did! Isn't this great? Certainly a happy place for your morning coffee to be seated!

Next up are these HUGE buttongs - over 6 cm :) They make me smile, but I dont think they would fit onto my phone covers somehow! They come from the Button Fairy.

Made by Val's shop has some great button drawing pins. Why not brighten up your pin board with these?

More handmade buttons here - these are ceramic and made by artspace scotland. I have found when I make my buttons, I am always on the look out for textures to press into them but usually end up starting over as they never work that successfully. Rather jealous of how lovely these patterns are on the buttons! :)

Here is one i know my boyfriend would like - ROBOTS! This lovely item is from blondesbackyard.

I love these hairgrips that have been decorated with buttons. Cute aren't they?? They come from seamssoeasy.

Well the packaging finally arrived today, so I listed my first handmade button on Folksy!

This is the first of many, let me tell you (ever so slightly obsessed with this now!) I have listed it at 60p which I hope people will find reasonable. I intended initially to just use them on my phone covers, but after seeing them all sitting next to one another on the baking sheet, I thought 'why not sell them individually too?' 70th Wedding Anniversary

Well it is my Nan and Grandad's 70th wedding anniversary next week, so instead of struggling to find a ready-made card in the shops (which from a brief look is impossible!) I made them one! Actually, I made 2 - one from my Mum and Dad, and one from me and the boyf. I am SO excited! A lovely parcel arrived the other day - Tracy from www.squigglestamps.co.uk sent me my stamps in rubber form! I am really chuffed to see how well my designs translated to the rubber stamps - and can't wait to get started with my second set! She also included a whole goody bag of all sorts of lovely papers, beads and ribbons! Why can't the postman bring me parcels like this everyday?!

Hey everyone, just a quick post to let you know i've added some new cushions to my folksy shop!

I have been meaning to list them for absolutely yonks! Also, I added them to my flickr account, so if you fancy a peek at them, and some other people's photos of similar items - click on the link on the side panel.

Oooh I also have a new keychain listen on folksy. What do you think? It started off as me practicing knitting using 4 needles (although this pattern only used 3) and I became somewhat obsessed with little knited hearts! I have one on my desk at work, my boyf Will does too, and there must be at least 10 in my flat now - all from one Sunday! I thought I'd make one into something useful, and would like to hear your thoughts on this!

Ooooh! I just couldn't wait to let you know - some of my illustrations are going to be turned into stamps! The lovely Tracey at www.squigglestamps.co.uk contacted me a few weeks ago, and asked if I would be interested in designing some illustrations to be made into stamps crafty people would use for card-making. Of course I jumped at the chance!

Squiggle Stamps create both rubber stamps and digital stamps - the former being the traditional stamp you use with an ink pad, and the digital stamps being a file you download, print and use in your crafting. They have great selection of illustrators, and some of the results i've seen on the actual finished pieces are amazing :) Let's hope people out there like my designs!

I'm Carol, and work full time as a graphic designer in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. It's pretty much 100% on a computer, so when I come home, I love to try and stay away from the screen and work with a black fine-liner and notepad, or more recently, a pair of knitting needles and some merino wool!

I have a new obsession - knitting and crochet. I am 100% addicted, and I think it's for a similar reason to drawing; it's away from the computer and lets you just 'zone out' to the everyday stuff, and relax into it. Here are some of my phone covers I have for sale on Folksy.

Boot Fair Finds

I went to a boot fair this morning, and thought I would share with you some of the lovely things I found. A lady had a huge collection of circular ceramic tiles - apparently from Greece - and we took these ones off her hands!

I couldn't resist this orange one - I know it isn't of the same style as the four above, but isn't the pattern great? Anyone who knows me, knows I have a weakness for anything orange, so this little coaster came home with me too :)

I also discovered these little beauties! There are 4 soup bowls, side plates and dinner plates, and they are 'Kiln Craft' - Bacchus. I think these are from the 70's. I love the design on them - where it looks hand-drawn, not 100% neat and straight.

I have acquired quite an obsession with mid-century/1970s ceramics, and now have such a collection I think I may start putting them up for sale. Watch this space... :)

Dinky Daisy

I have been attempting to make a zipped coin purse for a while now, but always get frustrated sewing in the zip. Whilst I was looking for some help online, I came across Dinky Daisy's blog and fell in love with her products!

Not only are the outsides lovely, but she has lined them with gorgeous fabric too!

Take a look at her shop to find lots of other sewn goodies - I love love love this sewing machine pin cushion.

I'll let you know how I get on with my coin purse, although I fear it won't be anywhere close to being as lovely as Debbie's! Here are the outlines i'll be following, and just amending the sizes to suit.

I thought I would share with you some tutorials I found on the internet today. Super cute, and the perfect way to personalise letters and envelopes you send - I bet they would make the postman smile :)

Just Something I Made's bunting roller stamp is so darn cute!

Isn't it a lovely idea? If you had really nimble fingers, you could try stitching! Or a cute repeating pattern perhaps :)

Today I visited my grandparents who live in Seaford, East Sussex. I just had to show you what my Nan gave me!

There is a huge stash of vintage knitting patterns (some where the models have very dodgy hair-dos!) a collection of vintage buttons, some wool, and a piece of the funkiest fabric! Those of you who know me, know that I am utterly obsessed with anything and everything orange, so I totally fell in love with it when she showed me!

In amongst the knitting patterns were some old copies of Woman's Weekly. This one is from July 22nd 1972. Wouldn't you love a lampshade like this?! Or, even more so, the coffee set! Apparently its from John Lewis, and is called 'Acapulco'. Ebay, here I come!

Right. This is my new month resolution. I will try my absolute hardest to write on my blog at least once a week, as a minimum, and hopefully lots more. I have never been very good at keeping diaries, but I am going to do this! That, and not eat any treats in June. That one probably won't work. OK, I know it won't. But the blogging will! Let the posting commence!

My boyfriend Will and I have just returned from a week's holiday on the Isle of Wight (small island just off the south coast of the UK.) We had such a lovely week, I had to tear myself away to come back home today! I shall be posting some of the interesting things we found there - don't you just LOVE this enamel kettle we found in a charity shop!? I was going to pop it up for sale, but not sure if I can part with it now!

We saw these fab milk bottles from the 1970s and just had to buy one each! And I couldn't go a week without giving in to my wool obsession - so shall hopefully turn the lovely pink and green wool into some purses next week!
